
Adele Mara April 28, 1923 (died May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who was a part of films in the 1940s and 1950s[2] and on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her professional name and she was offered a contract by Columbia Pictures [citation needed]. She had experience in comedy shorts as well as features for Columbia Pictures "B". Soon, this was shortened to Adele Mara. Mara started her career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters as Rita Hayworth's character in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942), she plays the leading female role, portraying the daughter of an escaped and falsely accused convict. When her Columbia contract expired after which she moved to Republic Pictures where she was frequent in outdoor adventure films and westerns. [citation required] She was featured in Don Siegel's Count the Hours and The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch.
